Yesterday evening, while walking to my favourite pub for dinner and a “cleansing ale”, I spied a little garden on the road side:
Some enterprising people have decided that if they live inner-city and don’t have a back yard then they will create a community garden on the street:
They have some mighty fine-looking broad beans for this time of year:
I wonder how many other people have photographed this little garden oasis? It sure isn’t every day that I come across some thing like that on the road 🙂

Heh I think this means your favourite pub is the Napier! Mine too… My friend and neighbour is part of the street garden effort, we have another one on our side of Brunswick St, corner of Victoria and Fitzroy St.

It’s quite weird how of 4 blogs I recently randomly started reading, 3 have revealed themselves to be Australian, 2 of which are fellow Melbournites — and the 4th I discovered is based near the town I was born in the UK!
The Napier is fantastic — and you cannot pass on their food for quality/value 🙂 I have a feeling that I’ll be having a Sunday parma as usual…

I’m from New Mexico but my best friend is an Aussie from Melbourne! When she met me she accosted me and told me I looked Australian and was from here on out her ‘sista’. Of course she said this in her Aussie accent. I now say things like, ‘I’m very cross with you’ and ‘just ta bit now’!
But really- I love this rogue community garden.
Oh that made me smile 🙂 Is “I’m really cross with you” an Australianism? I never knew that. See you learn something knew everyday!
Oh and I love the idea of calling it a rogue garden. Seems to fit. In a lovable-rogue type way!
